ART ON THE AVE

Art on the Ave is the Sixth Avenue Business District’s annual street fair celebrating art, culture, music, and community in the heart of Tacoma. This family-friendly event features live music, local artists and makers, food vendors, and interactive experiences for all ages. Each year, Sixth Avenue is fully closed to traffic from Alder Street to State Street, transforming the corridor into a walkable, creative gathering space. In 2026, Art on the Ave celebrates its 26th year, continuing a long-standing tradition of bringing neighbors, visitors, and local businesses together.

The event is made possible in part by generous funding from Tacoma Creates.

This community-focused, family-friendly event brings the Ave together each year with art, music, dance, altars, food, and cultural programming rooted in Día de los Muertos traditions. Held along Sixth Avenue, the celebration creates a welcoming space for connection, reflection, and shared cultural experience.

The event is made possible in part by generous funding from Tacoma Creates, helping support cultural access and community engagement for all.

The inaugural event in 2025 was organized and hosted by The La Paloma Project and co-hosted by the Sixth Avenue Business District at the historic Avelon Ballroom. This free community event featured local vendors, a Christmas tree lighting, performances by local high school choir students caroling, and hands-on arts and crafts activities for kids.

Holiday Hijinks was made possible with support from Tacoma Creates, helping create an inclusive, joyful space for neighbors, families, and local creatives to celebrate the season together.
